Special Olympics Michigan Athlete Featured on Spartan Products Throughout Michigan

Get ready to see more of Amy Bliss. Special Olympics Michigan athlete of 10 years, Amy Bliss, will be featured on 24-packs of Spartan brand bottled water in nearly 400 stores throughout Michigan. On Tuesday, May 18 from 4-6 p.m. at the Spartan owned D&W Fresh Market in Williamston, and Thursday, May 20 from 4-6 p.m. at the Spartan owned VG’s Grocery store in Fenton, Amy will be signing autographs for all of her fans, friends and supporters. Amy will autograph personalized trading cards created by Spartan Stores, that contain her personal and athletic achievements.

Amy BlissAmy Bliss, from Holt, Michigan, was recognized as the 2009 Spartan Stores Healthy Athlete of the Year. This annual award recognizes a Special Olympics Michigan athlete who exemplifies a healthy lifestyle and commitment to the Athlete Oath – “Let me win; but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”

The Spartan Stores Healthy Athlete of the Year Program was started in 2008 and is presented to an athlete at the State Summer Games who strives for wellness, a balance of the mind, body and spirit and is a leader among other athletes. Spartan Stores features that athlete on one of its products and its semi trailers. This award also gives the winner an opportunity to address the public at numerous public speaking engagements throughout the state.

Amy Bliss battled obesity which led to worries about serious health conditions. Her weight reached 200 pounds, but Amy’s hard work and dedication to her wellness paid off when she lost over 45 pounds in two short years. She now frequents her local Curves, where she exercises and encourages those around her to do the same, in addition to promoting healthy eating habits. Amy is an inspiration to all those around her as she continues her healthy lifestyle and weight loss journey.
