
| Terry Cramer – Chair (2008-2010) 2nd term
Terry is serving his second term on the Board. He currently serves as General Counsel and Chief Strategic Officer for a group of real estate related companies doing business in eight states. He is also the principal at T L Cramer Associates LLC, a business advisory firm serving small and mid-sized businesses. Terry has been involved with Special Olympics Michigan for more than 14 years, starting as a volunteer with the fall soccer tournament. He has been a member of the Special Olympics Michigan Corporate Advisory Council and has held several positions on the Board of Directors including Treasurer in 2006 and 2007, Vice Chair in 2008, Chair-Elect in 2009, and became the Chairman of the Board in 2010. Terry has two children Rob and Liz, who have both worked as volunteers, and a grandson, James. He lives in Gross Pointe Woods with his wife Christine, an educator, who spent a number of years working with children with intellectual disabilities as a teacher before becoming a counselor, still serving their needs.

| Mark Riordan – Chair – Elect (2008 – 2010) 1st term
Mark is serving his first term on the board. He is employed at the University of Michigan as an Assistant Athletic Director and oversees the marketing and Promotions department. When Mark is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Kimberly, and daughters, Cameron and Kelsey, and son, Andrew at his home in Milan. He also enjoys working out and sports of all kinds. Mark has been involved with Special Olympics since 1998.

| Dr. James Hornak – Vice Chair (2009–2011) 3rd term
Jim is serving his third term on the board. He serves on the State Summer & Winter Games Committees, for the past 37 years. He is the Chair of Physical Education & Sport at Central Michigan University, where he supervises and oversees programs in physical education, athletic training, sport administration, and activity programming. He also teaches a summer class that focuses on Special Olympics competition. Jim received numerous awards and recognitions at CMU. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004, and served on the Hall of Fame Induction Committee. He has served as the chair elect (2007) and board chair (2008). He lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife, Joan. They have two children (David and Kristin) who are both married now, and three grandchildren.

| Harry Bregman – Treasurer (2009–2011) 2nd term
Harry is serving his second term on the board. He has previously served on the board from 1997 to 2002 where he was on the Finance & Public Relations Committees. He has also served as chair of Development Committee. He has been involved with Area 11 Special Olympics where his son, Alexander, has participated for the last six years. Alexander is 19 years old. Harry is the Divisional Manager for Team Industries in Grand Rapids.

| Jim Ayres (2008 – 2010) 1st term
Jim is serving his first term on the board. He is the Director of Global Quality Assurance & Technical Regulatory Affairs at Amway Corporation, where he has been for nine years. He is very active with our Area 11 program (Kent/Barry counties), assisting in fundraising and coaching. Jim lives in Grand Rapids with his wife, Nancy. They have a son and a daugther.

| Tom Berg (2010–2012) 3rd term
Tom is serving his third term on the board. He has actively supported Special Olympics Michigan for over 33 years. He has served on the Development and Public Relations Committees on the board of directors. He retired from Spartan Stores, where he was the Vice President of Business Development. Tom is the Director of Marketing for Shoreline Fruit, LLC. in Traverse City, Mich.

| Barbara Brown (2009–2011) 3rd term
Barbara is serving her third term on the board. She is currently the Area Director for Area 17 (Van Buren, Berrien, and Cass counties) where she has served for the past 21 years. She has been involved with Special Olympics for the past 31 years. Barb formerly served on the board from 1994 to 1998. She was inducted into Special Olympics Michigan’s Hall of Fame in 1999 and has also served on the Hall of Fame induction committee. She was a World Games coach as well. She retired from Blossomland Learning Center, where she was a speech pathologist. Barb lives in Saint Joseph with her husband, Roger.

| Stuart Elsea (2009 – 2011) 2nd term
Stuart Elsea is serving his second term on the board. He is the President of Real Estate One, which is a family owned business (established in 1929). He encourages employees to support Special Olympics financially as well as get involved by volunteering at state or regional events. Stuart lives in Southfield with his wife, Judy and has two sons, Erik and Evan.

| Connie Florian (2009 – 2011) 1st term
Connie is serving her first term as the athlete representative on the board. She works at McDonalds as a crew trainer and attends Kirtland Community College. She has been involved in Special Olympics for 14 years and has been an assistant coach for basketball for one year. She participates in softball, cycling, basketball and swimming. She represented the US in 1999 as an athlete in the World Summer Games, and is a global messenger for SOMI. Connie lives at home in Rose City with her mother, Mary Florian and brother, John Florian. She and her family are members of the Saint Rose Guild CCW Holy Family Parish.

| Anne Goudie (2009 – 2010) 1st term
Anne is serving her first term as the area director representative on the board. She has been an area director since 1995, and has been actively working with Special Olympics since 1986. She has been a board member, assistant area director, a speaker, involved in many sports and committees. She is married and has three children, James, Elizabeth, and Andrea.

| Steve Gutman (2010-2012) 1st term
Steve is serving his first term on the board. He is an attorney and partner at Bodman, L.L.P. in Detroit. He received his undergraduate degree from Wayne State University and then graduated from the University of Michigan Law School. Steve understands first hand the positive experiences that come from athletic training and competition. Athletics have been an important part of his and his family’s lives for a long time. He has finished six marathons including three Detroit Free Press Marathons, the Marine Corps Marathon, the New York Marathon. In April of 2009, at the age of 66, he competed in the Boston Marathon. Steve’s involvement with Special Olympics Michigan began in 2009, with his desire to help athletes with intellectual disabilities. His hobbies include sports and photography. He lives with his wife Barbara. They have two grown sons Robert and Michael. They also have five grandchildren, Jacob, Sophia, Jonah, Talia and Aliya.

| Lisa Hagel (2009 – 2011) 1st term
Lisa is serving her first term on the board. She serves as the superintendent for the Mount Morris Consolidated Schools, where she oversees all school operations, curriculum, finances and personnel. She is also involved in Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Kiwanis. Lisa enjoys family, golf, gardening and running. She lives with her husband, John. They have four children Nick, Anna, Alexis, and Zale.

| Douglas Kinnan (2009–2011) 3rd term
Doug is serving his third term on the board. He has been involved with Special Olympics for over 21 years. His daughter, Jodie, is an athlete and competes at state and local events. Doug has chaperoned several Special Olympics events and continues to stay involved. He is Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for Amerisure and specializes in financial reporting, treasury management, investments, planning, and reinsurance. Doug is also involved with Financial Executives International, served on the finance committee for his church, and also was a board member for Taliant Software, LLP. Doug has also served the board treasurer in 2004, 2005 and 2008. He lives in Novi along with his wife, Linda and two children, Brian and Jodie.

| Don Loding (2010-2012) 1st term
Don Loding is serving his first term on the board. Don retired from the Michigan State University Athletics Department and began PlayerGuest.com, an on-line service for University athletic departments. Following several years with the Motor City Bowl in Detroit, he helped start the International Bowl in Toronto, Ontario. In 2008 he began publishing SPORT Magazine, a monthly magazine in the Greater Lansing Area. His involvement with Special Olympics Michigan started in 1990 at a golf outing fundraiser. He fondly recalls the hugs he received from athletes as he walked off the 18th green that day. He went on to be active with the golf outing and an active fundraiser for Special Olympics Michigan through projects like the Lansing area Polar Plunge. Don lives in East Lansing with his wife Sharon.

| Tony Pype (2010 – 2012) 2nd term
Tony is serving his second term on the board. He has been involved with the Wertz Warriors for over 27 years. He owns an auto repair & towing service in Clinton Township, and also lives in Clinton Township with his wife, Diane. They have five children: John, Vicki, Jaime, Tony, and Debbie.

| Jack Riley (2010 – 2012) 2nd term
Jack is serving his second term on the board. He is the Senior Vice President & Marketing Director for Fifth Third Bank, Eastern Michigan, and has been with them since 2001. He directs marketing strategies and communication for retail, commercial, investment advisors, mortgage and business banking. He loves classic cars and running. He also helps Special Olympics raise money through Polar Plunge participation, the Fifth Third River Run and the Detroit Turkey Trot. He has one son, Michael, and two daughters, Kate and Meg. Jack lives in Canton.

| Fred Schaard (2008-2010) 2nd term
Fred is serving his second term on the board. He is the President for Rehmann Financial. Fred’s brother was an athlete, and Fred raised money for Special Olympics through a golf outing for many years. Fred lives in East Lansing and has two sons, Fred and Joe.

| Steve Smith (2010 – 2012) 2nd term
Steve is serving his second term on the board. He is the Director of Media Relations for Central Michigan University. Steve lives in Mount Pleasant.

| Dr. Pamela Thompson-Roberts (2009 – 2011) 2nd term
Dr. Thompson-Roberts is serving her second term on the board. She has previously served on the board from 1993 - 1998. She owns her own family practice in Holt, where is specializes as an osteopathic doctor. Pam serves on the medical team for the Winter & Summer Games Committees. She lives in Holt with her two children, Claire and Madeline.

| Tom West (2009–2011) 3rd term
Tom is serving his third term on the board. He is a Foster Care Specialist for Child & Family Services of Northwestern Michigan. He has coached for Special Olympics Michigan for 21 years. He served on the management team for Area 22 (Saginaw and Shiawassee counties). He has also coached at the 1981 Special Olympics International Winter Games. Tom served as chair elect (2006) and board chair (2007). He lives in Harbor Springs with his wife, Patricia. They have two sons (Christopher and Matthew) who are both volunteers for state and local Special Olympics Michigan events. |
