Law Enforcement Torch Run

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) of Michigan celebrates its 29th anniversary on Monday, September 11th, as it kicks off Central Route, its 750 mile non-stop relay run, from the Top of Michigan to the bottom of the Thumb.  The run begins in Copper Harbor, the northern most city in Michigan, and finishes 5 days later in the metro-Detroit city of Sterling Heights.

The 750 mile non-stop relay consists of three run teams, Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC), and Michigan State Police (MSP).  These dedicated runners have been raising money throughout the year to participate in this prestigious event. Each team member runs five miles at a time, at an average of eight minutes per mile.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) has over 85,000 law enforcement officers involved worldwide and has raised more than $300 million dollars in the 29 years that it has supported Special Olympics athletes.
